Scott Rini - OCG Ambassador

Cycling has been a part of Scott’s life for almost two decades. The experiences and stories he’s collected throughout these years make him the go-to person when it comes to cycling advice. Not only does he know that, but he is also always ready to share his two cents and welcome newcomers to the trails.

"The first lesson cycling taught me is to always share your knowledge with others."

Scott’s ambition and desire to thrive in adversity led him to long-distance bike rides. This passion soon became an opportunity to meet new people and build a supportive and strong cycling community in his neighborhood.

Besides Scott’s annual group ride from his home with a cookout after, he also hosts Trails for Hope. The cancer awareness bike ride on the Ohio Erie Towpath helps support the American Cancer Society. Online, Scott runs a Facebook group called NE Ohio Cycling Community with over 1600+ members.

"We treat the group like family. Lots of tips, info about events and rides, sell bikes, help where needed and share our weekly stories every Sunday."

Having a full-time job and juggling the busy schedules of two active teenagers, makes it challenging to find time for cycling. However, it's the mental and physical benefits that keep Scott motivated and out on the trails.

"Cycling gives me an escape from everyday life and helps me unwind on so many levels. Cycling has brought a lot to my personal well-being. It also helps me stay healthy and active."

Scott’s biggest goal is to get back on track after having Covid-19, which impacted his strength and endurance. He aims to cover 300 km in a day on his bike. To achieve that, he counts on the support of his family and cycling family.

Scott needs a kit that will go the distance as he will. To help him with that, Scott will wear OCG on his next adventures.

SCOTT’S CHOICES

This year, Scott will take part in the 326+ miles Pan Ohio Hope Ride for the American Cancer Society in July, and do the entire towpath in the Huntington Towpath 101 ride in September. For this and plenty of other long-distance rides to come, Scott will need high-quality apparel to endure the challenging long days and ensure he is up to his full potential.
